Maris was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas. He is companions with Chica and Mathis. Chica, Maris, and Mathis arrived in VA on March 5th. Maris, is a sweet beautiful boy who just wants his ears scratched. He is going to take some time learning how to be a pet in the home. He doesn't have any manners yet, but I think that will come very quickly for him with proper training. He uses the bathroom outside every time he is taken out with no instances in the home or crate. He is hesitant to go in his crate, but once he is in he is so good! He whines for a few minutes but then is as quiet as can be! He doesn't mind a loud house (while in his crate, not tested free roaming), my resident dog barking, or even sirens that are heard often. He is a very quiet dog with not a whole lot to say. He also sleeps through the night in his crate. Maris, is a big baby learning the ropes of being a pet. He is nervous of new things, terrified of stairs, water and seems awfully confused of a glass door. That being said, with some time and patience he will probably become the biggest lap dogs waiting for those ear scratches! Maris is good with small but sturdy children as he does jump and lick. He needs to be cat tested. He is very interested in the squirrels. He is highly food motivated. He doesn't seem to mind other dogs but introductions and learning to co-habitat haven't happened yet.
