Introducing Nike and Nyx (aka as Mama Shelly and Baby Shelly). These girls have a very questionable history, where it's reported they once teamed up and killed a male GSD they shared a pen with. They spent their entire life living in a dilapidated pen with 6 other GSDs. I suspect the mama felt her baby was threatened and they turned on the male... for whatever reason, it's heartbreaking to even think about. Overall, they're not overtly dog aggressive, but given the history I do not put much trust into it. They briefly stayed with a TX foster in a pack of 10+ dogs. They got along ok, but definitely bullied the others and we removed them for everyone's safety. As of November 8th both have been with a foster and are very good with no restroom breaks in the house and are acclimating well with all the noises that come with being inside; (microwaves, tv’s, vacuums, and so on). Both dogs are weary of new people and take some adjustment time till they become used to them. They will go to their safe spot and decompress, but are both food driven and seem to warm up faster with the offer of treats. Baby Nike used to follow mom everywhere, initiating play. Both are beginning to understand and use dog toys. They are very loving and will want to come check in on and sleep by your bed during the night. They are becoming more independent. Sleeping in other rooms and different kennels that they may do okay separated) They do love each other very much. Mom grooming daughter and vice versa at times. They have no food aggression and eat from the same bowl and demonstrate the same towards humans while eating. Hands petting, touching, and holding their bowls causes no aggression from them. With good instruction, both Nyx and Nike pass other dogs on walks without lunging or attacks. They would require a confident leader who stays calm and gives them direction. Overall on leash, both dogs are not pullers and easily react positively with slight pulls on their collar. They had two leash free days with other dogs wearing muzzles. After a few aggression attempts they did listen to stern commands and were well with them in the house from then on. I believe with work they have the potential to accept and lessen their anxiety with other animals. There's some really great dogs underneath.
