I was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas.  I arrived to my foster in Virginia on July 5th.

Update: 7/19:  Gunny is a GREAT puppy.  Her tummy is feeling better and now she's playing longer.  She plays hard and snuggles even harder.  I just added a video of her playing with one of my shepherds and then running to the other one.  She loves to play with and be like the big dogs. Gunny is a great puppy because she's following the older dogs' lead, we have her on a regular schedule, and she's learning very fast what she can and cannot play with.  She does great in a crate overnight.  She is only crated during the day if nobody is home with her (very rare in my house) or if we need to be doing chores and cannot keep a watchful eye on her at all times.  She's curious, smart and resourceful.  As she's growing, she's learning that she can get into new things.  Gunny is a high-energy puppy and I'm sure in a few months she will need constant training to keep her energy and brains under control and occupied.  She may not look like a shepherd, but she has her mom's shepherd brains for sure.  She wants to be in the middle of the pack all the time. We have going potty under control MOST of the time.  When she wakes up, we take her right out to go potty.  If she doesn't go in the time we are out there (it's really hot so we don't take too long), then she goes potty on the puppy pads. She's only had a few misses of the pads and that's mostly been human error.  Puppies are going to have potty accidents.  They are going to chew. With a lot of praise for chewing on dog toys, Gunny is learning what she can have and gravitating toward those items.  She pulls toys from our dog toy bin all the time.  She's going to be a great dog for a family that can giver her the outlet she needs for her energy and to constantly learn.

Update 7/12:  Gunny is SMART. She has figured out how to navigate the stairs, mimics my 2 big dogs when they sit, and I've been teaching her how to sit and be calm before getting a treat (it takes about 5 tries, but she does it). She's also figuring out the leash. Gunny is a high energy pup and she's even being treated for Giardia and Coccidia right now (normal puppy things to get). When she's better, watch out! She's fast now, loves to run and play in the yard .  Sometimes she just likes to lay in the sun.  She also likes playing with the big dog toys. None of this puppy stuff for this girl! Gunny is a snuggle bug and does not like to be alone. She does fine in her crate overnight as long as it is in the bedroom.   With Giardia and Coccidia, she's a bit under weight too. As the meds work, I'm sure she will gain some meat on the bones we can see.

She's in the normal chewing phase, which can last a while.  Because Gunny learns really fast, I'm sure with practice she will learn what she can chew on rather than your hand.  She hasn't chewed anything in the house, but would if she was unattended (normal puppy stuff).  She's only had a couple of accidents overnight and that's because of her illness.  She mostly sleeps all night if she's had plenty of playtime. She seems to understand puppy pads to go to the bathroom, but we quickly get her outside after a nap or first thing in the morning and she will go outside.  Potty training shouldn't be too bad with practice.  Gunny is going to be a great dog!
