SSR occasionally receives requests to cross-post or courtesy-post dogs on our website for greater exposure. Before asking us to courtesy-post, please read the following information.
- Unless specifically stated to the contrary, SSR will not have evaluated, met, or interacted with these dogs.
- SSR cannot attest to the temperament, health, or suitability of these dogs.
- SSR recommends that anyone interested in adopting one of these dogs discuss the dog’s temperament with its current owner and/or obtain a professional temperament evaluation of the dog.
- SSR assumes no liability, financial, or legal responsibility for said animals.
- SSR will not courtesy post litters of puppies.
- Courtesy and cross-postings will remain on the SSR website for two months after which they will be removed.
Requirements For Courtesy Posting
SSR may agree to courtesy-post the dog if the following requirements are met:
- The owner must provide a contact email to be posted on the SSR site. All inquiries about a cross-posted dog will go directly to the owner.
- The owner must inform SSR when the cross-posted dog is no longer available for adoption.
- All animals must be spayed or neutered unless excused for medical reasons.
- It is the responsibility of the owner/rescue/shelter to screen applicants.
- Private individuals seeking to have SSR post a dog on its site must charge an adoption fee and make a minimum donation of $10 to SSR. No animal shall be given away free.
- Any rescue or shelter seeking to have SSR post a dog on its site must charge an adoption fee. No animal shall be given away free.
SSR Needs The Following Information
Please send the following information in an email to: info@shenandoahrescue.org.
- The dog’s location.
- The name and phone number of the veterinary clinic who can verify the dog’s spay/neuter status.
- A brief description of the dog. Include information such as:
- gender
- age
- breed
- housebreaking status
- personality traits
- how they walk on a leash
- dog friendly
- cat friendly
- kid friendly
- Information indicating whether the dog has ever bitten a human or other animal, the result if yes, and whether the dog has ever been deemed a dangerous dog.
- A brief explanation of the reason you need to find the dog a new home.
- The contact information (phone number and/or email address) you would like to see advertised in the posting.
- Digital photo(s) of your dog.
