Volunteering For SSRWhy SSR Needs VolunteersThe base of any successful rescue lies in the foundation of volunteers the rescue has. We cannot exist without your support, and we appreciate each and every one of our volunteers for the roles they play in assisting and rescuing German Shepherd Dogs. We are always actively seeking volunteers and encourage you to take a look at the list below which outlines some of the many ways you can offer your time and services to help support our mission. Why VolunteerVolunteering can be one of the most satisfying experiences. It's a way to use your skills to support animals and your community. If fostering is not for you (for whatever reason), volunteering your skillset and your time can be very rewarding. You may be able to support an existing function/process or perhaps bring new ideas to our organization.Becoming A VolunteerBecoming a volunteer is very easy. After submitting an application (Volunteer Application), an SSR representative will call and talk with you about your interests as well as the areas in which we need the most help. What You Can Do When You VolunteerAdoption Events:Whether it is hosting an adoption event or bringing another foster’s dog, we can always use your help. We need volunteers who are willing and able to correspond with potential venues, set up the events, assist in hosting, and/or bring a foster dog to attend. Photography:It’s no secret high quality images sell; we can always benefit from more professional-looking images. Social Media Support and Development:Social media is growing with each passing year. We need help posting content on various social media platforms and help in keeping up with new technology and current trends. Transporting Dogs:Dogs are often transported to SSR from out-of-state or from areas where we do not always have a steady basis of volunteers. At times, we rely on volunteers to help with a transport leg or even drive the entire distance to pick up a dog. Evaluating Dogs:To ensure the safety of our volunteers and fosters, all dogs are assessed prior to coming into our rescue (this evaluation is part of our intake process). Evaluations are done by experienced volunteers who personally meet the dogs and assess how they interact with others (people, dogs, and other animals if available). This is vital to our intake process and solely dependent on volunteer availability. Fundraising/Grant Support:A rescue cannot continue without donations from its supporters and the community. We need volunteers who are able to help in acquiring grants, planning and hosting fundraisers, and creating other opportunities for generating revenue. Advertising/Marketing:Volunteers are needed to assist in developing material for advertisements, newsletters, brochures, website news articles, end of year letters, etc. Administrative Duties:Volunteers are needed to help support the administrative functions of a rescue, including application processing, phone calls, database maintenance and updates, accounting, and contract revisions. Thank you for considering becoming a volunteer for SSR. |
