Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Trooper is very playful and mouthy big puppy. He is vocal and will let you know if he needs something. He has a BIG bark! He is with us for 4 days now and he wants to be together with his humans or fur siblings. Today he picked up a toy for the first time and brought it to us. Trooper is terrified of trucks driving by, he will try to get up as soon as he can to go back into the house. He is frightful of people walking on our street, cars driving by or dogs being walked, when he's in a front yard. He barks at them. It could be puppy fear since he's only 8 month old and because he was hit by a car a few weeks ago. The whole environment is new to him, so it will take a few more weeks for him to decompress. He is watching everyone in the house from his "safe space" and learning about people, other dogs and outside noises of going by cars and neighbors. He is on very restricted exercise routine (only potty breaks on a leash in the yard), while he is in the splint on one of his legs. We are waiting for a visit with ortho specialist to find out Trooper's next step in his treatment. Trooper is very sweet boy and loves his humans. He is going to be a true Velcro dog. He is very gentle when takes treats. Likes Kong toys stuffed with frozen yogurt, rope toys and fomom's fuzzy sleepers. He is not sure about squeaky toys at the moment. Trooper is housebroken and did not have a single accident. He is also crate trained - he went in as soon as I open the crate. He LOVES dog beds! So he sleeps in his own "room" with lots multiple floor rugs and a few dog beds. Sometimes he barks at his 4-legged fosiblings through the room dividers. Trooper is already almost 70 lb, so he will be a big dog. He is very handsome and will shower you with kisses!
