Who wants a big Bear hug? Raise your hand. Here is a little bit about Bear. He was found on a lonely strip of highway in the Rio Grande Valley in TX. No one ever came forward to claim him. Bear is about 2 years old. He is heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment is being covered by Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue. He is fully vaccinated and recently neutered. It is believed that Bear was totally an outside dog - so that means he has a lot to learn. But that is no problem because he is a smart boy! Bear is now housebroken. He had a tendency to jump to get attention; he is now almost 100% cured of the jumps. Bear currently lives with a pack of 7 female dogs and is loving life. He walks very well on a leash, sits for his meals and loves affection. He has not been aggressive when around other male dogs. Continued exposure will ensure he is comfortable being around them. He has not been around children as yet, but we feel he would be a great family dog. Bear is not a fan of cats so a home with no cats would be best. He has been a little too interested on what's been left out on the counter and that behavior is currently being addressed. Bear loves toys, probably because he hasn't seen many until recently. He loves babble balls and wobble wag giggle balls. He will snag one and carry it around with him. Bear is a bit of a goof and it really is a very endearing quality. So if you want a Bear hug, you better grab this boy while you can! Bear is currently in TX and will catch a ride to VA once he has a foster.
