Seaweed has been with his foster family for almost two weeks now and has settled in nicely. For a dog that was kept in a kennel for the last 6 months, he is remarkably social and very good natured. He honestly gets happier every day he is with us.
Particulars:
- Seaweed is a mix of German Shepherd and another breed. This gives him the best traits of both; he is happy go lucky but with an intelligence to learn and please. Plus when you see him play, he looks like a small deer, he is all legs!
- He is housebroken, has had no accidents in our home. He is a big snuggler, he will go into the crate but prefers to sleep on the bed with his humans. He is not a bed hog, he will sleep at your feet or along side you and doesn't move around too much.
- He is good with other dogs and cats. He has been playing with
our 8 month old kitten, Dingleberry. Our two older cats tolerate him and let him know they don"t play with dogs.
- He is very friendly with people, I have introduced him to the neighborhood kids, they got
along well and all he wanted to do was play!
- He is learning basic commands like sit and stay, and is trying hard not to jump up in excitement when he meets new friends. He is not bad on the leash; he walks next to his foster brother Logan. He doesn"t pull hard but is easily distracted. He is just really excited learning all the new sights and sounds in the outside world. But in all areas, he truly wants to please, he tries hard to get things right and already comes when called.
All in all, he is doing fantastic for a puppy (he is less than a year old) who was crated for 6 months of his short life. He will be a fabulous family dog and just needs a little bit of structure. I have not seen a dog that wants to please more and shows so much love back to those that give it to him.
