Riddle has a unique story, one we frequently see in Texas, but rarely in Virginia. Riddle had been dumped at an apple orchard in the middle of autumn when most orchards are heavily trafficked. Someone had seen him and posted him on Facebook, which luckily the SSR director saw. The director spent almost a week trying to catch Riddle. She found him a few days after he had been dumped running through fields and trying to cross busy roads. He was clearly terrified and in flight mode, trying to find somewhere that felt remotely safe. After hours of setting down food for him and trying to get him to approach, the chase for the day came to an end. The next day when she went back to look, Riddle was nowhere to be seen. There had also been no sightings of him reported. Three days passed and thankfully someone had posted about him running down the street. He had traveled SEVEN miles. He was exhausted. The director spent hours trying to catch him as he went into the woods. Luckily, he was able to be coaxed and is safe with SSR. Riddle is very sweet and is taking his time to decompress after a frightening journey. He is looking for a forever home, one that will cherish him instead of abandoning him.
