ATTENTION ALL ADOPTERS: Gracie has arrived! She is being fostered in VA. Gracie says 'hello y'all'! She is getting healthy fast, recovering from a broken right leg. Gracie is a fantastic pup, friendly with other dogs, cats, and kids. She is one of the happiest dogs we have ever met. Already housebroken, she had only one accident (during the first three days) when her fo-dad didn't understand her "I need to go out NOW" sign. Not aggressive but is protective on walks. She has a mini-bark which she uses when she sees strangers but if they come up to her, she wags her tail and can’t wait to greet them. She is learning to walk on a leash but has a way to go and needs some work as she likes to jump on people. She has gotten her stamina back and is showing her puppy a high energy state; she has zoomies in the house unless we take her on 2-3 walks a day. She has a moderate to low prey drive, she is interested in squirrels but does not try to chase them. She will not be a big dog, currently at about 38 lbs and likely will be less than 60 lbs when full grown. She is a couch potato; she will sit next to you anytime. Gracie likes the crate but is also a great bed dog; sleeping through the night with no fuss along with two cats. There are a couple of health issues to be aware of with Gracie. First, she is recovering from a broken leg. She has a device in her leg that should not require any treatment but the leg is a bit tender. She has had no problems over the last week including wrestling with our 90-lb shepherd. She also has been diagnosed with Mega E from her x-rays while she was in Texas. We have not seen any re-gurgitation or aspiration of food while we have had her here for the last 3 weeks and trust me, we have been watching closely. We have been feeding her exclusively from an elevated food bowl but she has also had her share of treats from the floor with no issues. The doctor says while it may show on her x-rays, the fact that she has had no regurgitation may mean there is a good chance she will grow out of it. The doctor also checked her leg and pronounced her healthy and fully recovered. Gracie has recovered from her spay surgery and is back to her full-strength, happy go lucky, high-energy self already. She is ready for adoption, her pictures do not do her justice. Gracie is excited about meeting her forever family. Could it be you?
