Babe was an owner surrender from Texas. She is heartworm positive and will be treated at SSRs expense.
She's wonderful; her pictures absolutely do not do her cuteness justice.
Are you looking for a dog who is
✅️ kid friendly
✅️ cat friendly (we don't even care)
✅️ gentle
✅️ a great fetch
✅️ house trained
✅️ 50-55lbs size; she is travel size and easily jumps into the car for transport!

✅️ not food aggressive or guarding
✅️ happy to graze or eat peacefully in one sitting
✅️ eager to stay by her person
✅️ is 3 or younger

Consider Babe!
She does not
❎️ love playing with other dogs but is learning how to play with them
❎️ love dogs in her face and is vocal about it
❎️ know any commands, but her fosters will start working on that soon
❎️ like hats on men (they make her fearful)
Babe is heartworm positive and being medicated.
She takes medicine easily, takes treats kindly from your hand, and does not snap. Just a wonderful little girl!
Babe has only been in Virginia since 11/19. As she gets more comfortable, her profile will be updated to reflect new developments.
On the whole, she is a loving dog, who would be a good fit for a family who wants a dog to snuggle and play fetch. She will be a great companion at events and out, as she is all about staying with her people/person. She does get a bit possessive of her things and people when around other dogs that are competing for those same things, so that should be monitored by her new family.
She has never given any of us trouble when taking things from her, when intervening on toy-sharing matters, or to disrupt her eating. She will growl to let other dogs know to leave her alone with her people and things -- but again, this has been more to show ownership than aggression. This is being worked on by her fosters and should be worked on by her new family. We do not consider this a large issue, but something to know, if you have other very playful dogs in the house that are also possessive. She has shown no possessiveness with other dogs that are more aloof and disinterested in staking claims.
We are working on her comfort away from people in a crate. She does bark and whine when you leave her, and she will shake the crate with joy when you return. She does settle, rest, and sleep without destroying what is in the crate with her. We would not advise her for townhouse or apartment living at this time due to her vocalizing tendencies.
