Beatrice is a sweet 5 month old puppy. Everything is new to her and she can be a little scared sometimes, but she keeps trying new things. A week ago she was afraid of cars driving by the house, and now she either watches with interest or completely ignores them. She loves her chew toys. Though she still needs reminders not to nibble fingers and toes, at least her bite is gentle! She loves pets and cuddles and looks for these for comfort and reassurance.
Her small size will make her perfect for apartment living as long as she can get outside for enough excercise. We expect her adult size to be somewhere in the 40-45 pound range. She LOVES the outside with all the interesting smells and sounds, and loves digging through the fallen leaves. Her perfect family would have frequent outdoor activities. Because she has a tendancy to bolt when playing, a fenced yard is recommended, or that her humans keep her on a long training lead while walking in any open areas of the property. She did really well learning her leash boundaries at her new foster home.
She is potty trained and has only had two accidents that were due to her foster human's error. She is learning basic commands and how to communicate when she needs to potty.
Beatrice is dog friendly as long as other dogs in the home are not the dominant type. In fact, they may help her adjust to her new setting by showing her the ropes, as she seemed to take her cues from other dogs she stayed with as she made her way to her current foster. It's unclear whether Beatrice would do well with cats, and it may depend on the actual dynamics of any household. She has a good prey drive, and in staying overnight in different homes with cats, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. She is good with kids. She's still very timid about meeting new humans but warms up quickly when she realizes she can trust you.
Can you find room in your heart and home for a puppy that just needs love?
Beatrice is being fostered near Hershey, Pennsylvania. She was rescued from a high kill Texas shelter along with her brother Benedict, who is being fostered seperately in North Carolina.
