Garner is in boarding currently but he has had 2 hiking outings with one of our volunteers:
8/28 First hike: “Garner was awesome on our hike today! Very friendly and well-behaved boy. He showed interest in people walking by and wanted to say hello. He rode well in the car. At times, he responded to the sit command. He walked well on the leash. 9/4: Hike number two with sweet Garner! He seems like a great and good natured boy. He seems to know the sit command but does get distracted when on the trail where there are a lot of smells. Knows down in the car. Friendly to other hiking dogs and people. Walks well on a leash. Only tugged a little initially on the hike then walked calmly. He is still in boarding and needs a foster/adopter.”
Garner was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He is heartworm positive, but will be treated at SSR's expense. He arrived to the Virginia area in August 26th. If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. If you are not yet an approved adopter but are interested, please complete an adoption application!
