Larry was transferred from a partner rescue in Texas. He arrived to his Virginia foster on July 9th, so check back soon for updates. July 28th: Larry is settling into his foster’s place nicely. Since he’s been with us, he’s learned to walk up and down the stairs, he’s a sharp boy and has quickly learned basic commands such as sit, down, come, leave it, and shake (we are still working on “stay”), he likes car rides (but needs an incentive such as a treat to jump in), he’s good with adults and kids as long proper introductions are made and he is cat friendly based on his interaction with our dog savvy cat. We haven’t had an opportunity to dog test him yet– but my feeling is he’d be good with other dogs with appropriate introductions. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and is very receptive to correction. He’s not food aggressive although he loves food! Larry walks well on the leash but is a little timid when encountering new situations. I fully expect his confidence will improve as his stable environment continues. Larry loves to be around his people and is typical Velcro – he sleeps in my office during the day while I’m working and follows me around the house. He is a very curious dog but doesn’t seem interested in typical toys (balls, Frisbees, etc.) however, he loves his snuffle mat and his Kong treat ball– he’s very food motivated! Larry is scheduled for his neuter July 29th and will be available for meet and greets soon after recovery. Larry is a smart, handsome boy with a great temperament and would be a good fit for a variety of households. Please reach out to your caseworker if you are interested in this sweet love bug!
