Michi was found dumped on the side of a highway in San Antonio, Texas. She is 5 years old but doesn't act like it at all! She is very playful with her Foparents. However, she is also obedient and eager to please. She does not care about the resident cats (who are not dog savvy) She knows the commands sit, lay down, stay, come, and crate. We are also working on "paw" and "bed."  I think she has had some previous training because she has picked up new tricks quickly.

We put her in her crate at night and when we are not home due to having non-dog savvy cats. However, I think she would be ok without it. She settles down immediately at night. She has only barked 3 times in the 2 weeks she has been with us. I believe these were all due to being startled.

In Texas, she was with another foster and she enjoyed playing with the other dogs. We do not know about kids but we think she would be ok. She takes treats gently from my hand. She shows no food aggression despite one of my cats frequently trying to eat her food.

She shows no destructive tendencies and rides well in the car. When she first arrived she jumped on me but I worked with her on this and now she no longer jumps on me. She loves to be with her people and is a "Velcro" dog.

I think Michi would be good in a home where she can play! Whether that be with her owners or other resident dogs. She does not require a yard but would appreciate being walked in a neighborhood or apartment complex.

6/23/2022 Update
Michi is settling into our home and has learned our routines. She has met a few new people. She is a bit slow (scared) to warm up but eventually loves everyone she has met. She loves to play fetch in the yard. She is very affectionate and gives kisses often. She will bring me toys throughout the day for me to play with her. She will also occasionally "ask" to go for a walk. We are walking her on a leash with a prong collar as she still pulls very hard. She is easily excited and loves to smell all the smells. She does calm down and doesn't pull much half way into our walk. After we give her a bath she has the zoomies.

Her future adopters should know that it seems her crate was used as a punishment and they will need to continue to teach her it is no longer a punishment.

6/30/2022 Update

Michi LOVES chewing on bones. However, she does not chew on anything in the house and is not destructive at all.

7/7/2022 update
Michi has gone through her decomposition phase and has really calmed down from her first few weeks in our home. She previously used to never nap and wanted to play frequently. Now she is content to nap or chew a bone at my feet while I work from home. I changed her exercise needs to low since she tires out after 5-10 minutes of fetch. This also seems weather dependent as it’s been so hot lately. One cool morning she wanted to play for about 15 minutes. We live off of a main country road so unfortunately we can only walk to the end of our driveway and back (about a half mile total). That does not seem to tire her out like running for the ball does. We are planning to take her camping this weekend with us (first time) and I will report back how she does with hikes/longer walks.
