Django has an awesome temperament, he is highly intelligent, affectionate, loves belly rubs, he is very tolerant of being touched by his foster parents (i.e. feet dried, ears cleaned, teeth brushed, trimming nails with Dremel tool), he loves attention/will bond with his people, and is eager to please.
He is full of spirit/life, just always a happy boy, and loves to play with any kind of toy (he occasionally guards his toy from his 4 legged foster sisters, but not from his foster parents), he is very food motivated.
He has picked up on basic commands both verbal as well as hand signals (sit, down, stay, leave it, hand touch....) quickly, his recall indoors is great, we continue to work on recall outside with distractions, his leash walking has greatly improved but still needs work, and he continues to work on some general dog manners.
He is crate trained and house trained. He rides very well in the car, and is a great TSC, Lowes.... shopping buddy, he is also comfortable going downtown, parks....
He is high energy but can also settle / relax, he can come on strong/plays rough, and can be dog selective (prefers a calm confident dog), so slow dog intros are a must. Breed experience, continued obedience training and a fenced yard is highly recommended.
Django is super playful but has too rough play for cats, small dogs and small children.
His reaction to new people; friendly to people (male and female) coming into the house with foster parents, and while out on walks; friendly with people that want to meet him, also friendly towards the older considerate children he has met. He can be cautious of people outside around the home.
Django is heartworm + and being treated by SSR. Once his HW treatment is over and his exercise requirements are no longer restricted this adventurous boy will make a great running, hiking buddy....
Django was transferred from a partner rescue in Texas. He is being fostered in Hendersonville, NC and is looking for his forever home.
