Ginny is so unbelievably sweet and happy - she’s been glued to my side since she got here with a smile on her face. She is a beautiful 3 year old pup who is house trained, crate trained, well behaved, and knows “sit”, “down”, and we are working on waiting for the okay to eat. She appears to be pretty calm and low energy so far. Very cat friendly. She forms a strong attachment to her family members (particularly women) and exhibits guarding behaviors (grumbling) at other dogs who get too close to her people too quickly. She is dog friendly with submissive dogs; she does not get along well with other alpha females. She resources guards small children, and has nipped at adults in a misguided attempt to “protect” the child. Loud noises and people who move too quickly (like runners on outdoor hikes) make her nervous. For these reasons, she is not recommended for a household with children. She will need an experienced owner who will take charge and is dedicated to training to help her gain confidence and create positive associations in new situations. Ginny was a rescue transfer from Texas. She is heartworm negative. She arrived to her Virginia area foster on February 26th.
