2/24/2022 - Rachel has been with her foster in Warrenton for almost two weeks now and has really come out of her shell! Since she has been with us she has been working hard on learning how to DOG and is now crate-trained (but doesn't need one), house-trained and dog-friendly (we have 6 dogs of our own of various sizes and she gets along with them all). When she first came to us she hid under tables and in corners, but after just a few days she now greets us at the door with a little dance and her tail wagging! We are not sure how she is with small children or cats. Because of her extremely timid nature we have been slowly introducing her to new people, and unfortunately she still poops and pees immediately upon meeting new people, both inside and outside of the house. Will need an adopter that understands this will be a thing until she gains more confidence.
2/1/22 Update on Rachel. She’s loves seeing me in the morning and after work. She just started wagging her tail!!
Rachel was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She is pretty sick and is heartworm positive, has tapeworms, and is underweight. Rachel is currently being treated and will come to the Virgnia area once she is recovered. If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know.
