Update:2/21/2022 Mila is still in search of a forever home. She been with us for nearly 8 weeks and we have come to know her quite well. Her skin lacerations have now completely healed and her coat continues to grow in more and more beautifully everyday! She has a very sweet temperament and enjoys the company of people. She is quite affectionate has done well with all children in the household- ages 15,13,11,and 20 months (although she can at times be a tad mouthy). Mila enjoys playing with toys and running laps around the yard. She is of moderate-higher energy level and would do best in a more active household. Mila is crate trained and settles well, but can at times be vocal. Mila has done well with the resident puppy and dogs but required a slow introduction when she first arrived. We recommend that she does not go to a home with cats. She is too interested in them and will chase if they run. Mila has done well in the car and during bath time. She handles well and allows me to touch her muzzle, paws and tail. She can be cautious of her environment and will sometimes bark at people/dogs passing by. She would likely do best in a more rural setting, but could certainly adapt to another environment given the proper time, attention and training. Mila has not displayed any signs of aggression or resource guarding. She has not exhibited any signs of separation anxiety. However, she does prefer to be close to people, so I could see this becoming an issue in the future if proper boundaries are not practiced early on. If you are interested in meeting this charming girl, please reach out to your caseworker. Additional questions regarding Mila can be directed to 2foster4love@gmail.com
Mila has arrived and we are currently getting acquainted. We will continue to add more information as she gets acclimated to her new setting. Thus far, she has been a pleasure to have and is a very sweet girl. She has allowed me to give her a bath and is okay with my touching her paws and cleaning her wounds. She is slowly but surely growing out her beautiful coat again. Mila has done well in the car and seems to enjoy the ride! She can be somewhat vocal in her crate but settles easily. She is housebroken and enjoys playing with toys. She is of medium build, small but mighty and will need some help with her leash skills as she currently believes she's a sled dog and likes to pull you around during walks. However, Mila has already made some great progress with leash work! Please stay tune for more updates as we get to know her and prepare her for her forever home!
Mila is one lucky girl. She was found at a park in Texas by a rescuer looking for another lost dog. Even though this wasn't the dog she was looking to save, the rescuer contacted SSR who agreed to take her. She had some unknown injuries and hair loss that are being treated. He finder also stated she wasn't very "street smart" so it's great that she was saved before anything terrible became of her. She arrived to the Virginia area on December 31st.
