Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Starsky 2329 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Starsky was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He did have a limp that will be assessed. He arrived in Virginia on December 3rd. Starsky has arrived. So far he is very sweet. He doesn't like a crate but will eventually go in for treats. He doesn't seem to be limping but will keep an eye on it. He is very vocal in a crate but will settle down as long as he can see you. I will update more when I get to know him. Starsky update: he has learned sit and down. He is very treat motivated. He gets along better with the female fosters. Him and my male I've been doing slow intros just because my male is a crazy in your face kinda dog. Starsky plays really rough so he could knock little ones down. His limp is gone so the vet believes it was from his neuter abcess since his sac was the size of an orange. He is very sweet but he definitely needs a strong leader. He does need a fenced in area just because he test the boundaries of my fenced in back yard and tries to jump and climb. He walks well on a leash with a prong collar. If it's a regular one he will pull like crazy. 1/14/22 update starsky is doing so good. He is doing well with learning manners. He still likes to jump up and greet people but we are working on that. We are working on the potty training. I think he never learned so when I was sick for over 2 weeks he started using the bathroom wherever he felt the need. He is doing better just have to really watch his cues. Especially if he drinks alot of water. He hated a crate but now will go in it when giving the command crate. Sometimes he self crates to get away from his foster brother. He loves my grandkids but he can be a little rough when playing so I just have to watch he doesn't knock them down. He does well on a leash with a prong collar. He will need obedience training he can be a little hard headed and not listen. He would do well in a fenced in back yard but not required if he gets tons of exercise. He is young but with the right training he will make someone a great dog. Very treat motivated!
