Are you looking for a young, super energetic stunner to light up your life? Look no further than Chex! He was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived in Virginia on December 3. He is ~1 years old and 58 lbs of sweetness with the softest fur you’ve ever touched. And don’t even get me started on his beautiful eyes!! He will be neutered on 12/22.
Some things we've learned about Chex:
--He gets along great with his young human foster siblings;
--Very playful and goofy;
--Not aggressive;
--Low prey drive (does like squirrels, though);
--Loves fetch and has a lot of energy (could make a good running buddy!);
--He gets along very well with all the dogs in our neighborhood (large and small);
--Gives excellent snuggles;
--Potty trained;
--Good in the car;
--A definite velcro dog who loves to be with his people!
--Heartworm negative; and
--Cats are a maybe (would definitely need a slow intro to find out)
Chex is also...
--Not great on the leash (he really pulls);
--Mouthy;
--A bit reactive to new people when they come near or inside our house (barks a lot);
--Terrified of a flight of stairs (he can do 3-4 steps but refuses to go upstairs or downstairs in our house);
--Manners need work;
--Hates the crate.
....BUT he’s young, very smart, and with a patient owner, all those things can likely be overcome! He would be great in a house with other dogs or as an "only dog." Approved adopters are encouraged to reach out to your caseworker if you’re interested in meeting this gorgeous pup!
