Update: Daphne is doing much better with some great food and care. She has gained a few pounds and she also started her heart worm meds (she is HW+ and will continue treatment at SSR's expense). She had a nail trim and this has really helped with her sliding on the floor and being a little less clumsy. Daphne is house trained and so she is ready for a quiet, forever home surrounded by her people. She would love to play a little catch daily, but mostly Daphne is couch potato. She can be dog selective and prefers quiet dogs that won't be in her face. She visited an office recently, and didn't even have an issue with their slick wood steps (see video). Daphne is currently in boarding in the Virginia area, so reach out to your caseworker, if approved, to arrange a meet and greet.
Upon Arrival: Daphne is in Va and doing very well. I'm working on her house training and gaining some weight, she's thin! So far she likes men and women not sure about little ones just yet. We will do doggie intros this week, she's still not sturdy on her feet. She is having a very hard time on our floors, all hard wood is not good for her. She's just starting to eat some food, her journey to Va I think was hard on her. Daphne loves car rides and does well, no sickness or going crazy. Working on crate training, she will go in but really would prefer to sleep by my bed. I think once she gets with her people she can stay out. She will bark to alert but not all the time, no whining. I love this girl, she knows she was saved. She follows me everywhere and loves being a family dog.
Daphne was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas with mammary tumors,severely emaciated, and heartworm positive. She arrived to the Virginia area on November 13th.
