Ellie Mae is a total sweetheart. She loves kids and loves meeting new people. She would do better as an only dog but likes females better. She loves to just hang out and be a couch potatoe. She doesn't know what toys are. I think she never had a chance to be a dog. She does well on a leash and she is crate trained. She doesn't really need to be crated I have let her have the run of my house and she never bothers anything. 10-31-21: Update on Ellie May she is a wonderful dog. Please don't let her age or heartworms scare you. She loves playing with my fosters. It does take her a while to warm up to new dogs. But she likes females better. She does like my male and will play with him but it took her a while. She listens so well and really is the best dog. She never needs crated. But I do feed her in one just because I feed all my fosters at the same time. I did upload a video of her playing with a foster. 11-06-21: Ellie May met my daughter's cat. She wanted to sniff him and was curious but wasn't aggressive or barked or even try to chase him. I think she will be okay with dog savvy cats. And she is cautious with male dogs. She can live with them it will just take time and patience. She would make a wonderful companion. She loves kids and meeting new people. 03-20-22 Ellie May was adopted in January and recently returned to SSR due to her chasing the resident cat. Stay tuned for more updates. 3/28/22 Update: Ellie May has been back with me for over a week. I had her from Sept. till January. She was adopted but was returned because her and the one cat didn't get along. Ellie is a dream to have around. She has been the best foster. She gets along great with her foster brothers and sister. She does need slow intros to other dogs. And that is just so she knows they won't hurt her. She never needs to be crated. She has free roam of my home and she never bothers anything. She takes treats gently. She loves my grandchildren especially when they are showing her attention. She let's me brush her teeth everyday. She loves to be brushed. If she sounds like she would be a good fit please reach out to your caseworker or apply to adopt. This girl has been in the rescue since August and it breaks my heart that she keeps getting looked over.
