Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
SSR Gretchen 2137 is simply perfect in her own goofy, sassy and totally lovable way. She will have you smitten with her in no time! She has settled in nicely with a little time to decompress and structured introduction with the foster's dog Graham (who also has straight-legged syndrome). They are best buds now after only a few days! It does take Gretchen a few days and structured introduction to warm up to new friends but she has come around to love anyone she has met so far! Gretchen would be best suited in a home with no cats however she has made great strides on this issue and with training and time could coexist with dog savvy cats ok. She has been great around all of the farm animals, just a little excitable but she listens sooo well to redirection. This sweet girl is an absolute mush and just wants you to rub her belly or her ears at all times. She does have straight legged syndrome but she has recently mastered even her fosters big stairs to go upstairs for bed and comes back down all on her own with supervision! She is incredibly capable and does really well running and playing and just being a dog! She’s largely potty trained (she does NOT often make a mess of herself when doing her business in terms of her special needs) and working on her commands! She’s truly a fantastic young dog! Let your caseworker know if you’re interested in this snuggle bug!! In the video outside, she is the one with the leash. The inside video, she has a pink collar on. The foster's own dog has the green collar. History on Gretchen: Gretchen was rescued by SSR as a puppy from a breeder after she was discovered to have "straight leg syndrome". This does not allow her to bend her back legs properly. She was adopted in September 2021 and recently returned to SSR.
