Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Maple is one of our most recent arrivals from Texas. She ended up in a shelter that was overcrowded, then went to another shelter, so she’s been through a lot. If that wasn’t enough, she had an embedded collar. This happens when a collar is put on a puppy, and never loosened as the puppy grows. As a result, she has an open wound almost the entire way around her neck. She is healing well, but these sorts of wounds don’t heal quickly. She cannot wear a collar entire her neck I’d entirely healed. She will not suffer from any long term effects. Maple is estimated to be about 18 months old, or maybe younger. She is full of exuberant puppy energy and as such, will require a family that plans on formal obedience. She will be a breeze to train, she is very smart and food motivated. Maple unfortunately is not good with cats, but is very playful with her foster sister Genna. Maple is in a boarding situation, not a home, so crate training is recommended until she can be done trusted loose in the house.
