Whether you're looking for a couch potato or a hiking buddy - Olive is the perfect fit! Olive's favorite things are attention from her hooman, walks, her tennis ball, and more attention! Olive is a beautiful 5 year old that was locally rescued with a flea infestation. She had barely any fur on her back but is now fully healed and loves showing off her gorgeous coat! She is a very large female shepherd and requires a firm owner to handle her physically as well as control her strong personality. She has done amazing on walks with a prong collar and picked up loose leash walking right away. She has shown little interest passing other people and has done well passing other dogs - sometimes just needs redirection when she gets too excited. She seems to prefer love and attention over treats! Olive can be anxious and snappy meeting new dogs but with slow intros she has done okay and does best with dogs that give her more space and stay calm. She could coexist well with the right dog but would be absolutely happy as an only dog as well. She had shown some nipping behaviors in her previous home with visitors but has been all love for animal control, kennel staff, and all volunteers that she's met. Unsure if she's met any kids but I believe she would do well with dog savvy kids. Cats and small dogs unknown at this time
Olive was found as a stray wandering on a West Virginia road. We believe her original owner dumped her after not being able to rehome her. Her distinctive look from her flea infestation made it pretty obvious she was the same girl. She received treatment and recovered quickly. Olive was adopted in June 2021 but recently returned after exhibiting aggressive behavior to other dogs and visitors in the home. We will assess and work with her so she can find a forever home.
