Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Fenway was found by animal control on the side of a highway. He arrived at his Virginia foster on May 29 and is getting used to his new/temporary home. He is VERY thin, seems friendly, comfortable walking on leash, and made himself at home in his new bed. He loves being outside and going for walks. Fenway is crate-trained - he puts himself to bed at night in his crate and easily goes into his crate when prompted. He is house-broken but still isn't comfortable enough/confident enough to go on a leash. As he learns to feel safe around people he should be able He definitely lets us know he needs to go, we just are continuing to learn his preferences. Fenway is alert and attentive on walks - he can spot a squirrel from a good distance, but doesn't aggressively pull to chase them. He will pull a little bit, but will stop when asked. He's a little bit afraid of hardwoods still, but will conquer them when he puts his mind to it. Fenway is a very gentle dog, so he could probably do well with kids. He's a super sweet dog, who likes to follow around his foster family and is very attentive. He loves his post-dinner pets and loves a good belly rub. Fenway is shy around strangers, and sometimes barks, but we've found that the problem is usually fixed as soon as you go on a walk with him. He is all bark and no bite, Fenway is loving and really wants to find his perfect fit.
