Melanie is a very sweet dog. She likes everyone and greets people with not only a way of her long tail, but of her hips as well! She has done very well with adjusting to being in a foster home with kids and a resident shepherd. Melanie is very go-with-the-flow about food, where she sleeps and what activities to do. She just wants to be with the crowd! For a relatively young dog, she is pretty content to hang out by her human friends while they remotely go to school/work.
Because she is young, she needs basic training on commands and leash work. She is eager to please, so she will likely learn quickly, she just never had anyone teach her before! She will go in a crate, but doesn’t know why she has to be in there. She has been sleeping in the crate at her fosters and only protests for a few minutes every few days. She would probably love a family that is okay with her sleeping outside the crate or continuing to work with her on crate training. Melanie loves to eat and has been known to grab a cake that was left unguarded, but unfortunately only got a few bites before she was caught. A dog can dream :) not picky about food.
Melanie was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She arrived to the Virginia area on April 3rd.
