Blue, despite the name is a lady. Her owner took her to a vet and paid $600 trying to figure out what was wrong. Ended up being a sketch facility and her care was minimal, so she transferred to SSR. On arrival to our ER (after days at the vet), she was severely dehydrated and struggled to walk. The first vet took X-rays for limping and said she had arthritis in the leg, along with notes saying she couldn’t breathe. The ER repeated rads and things seemed fine and no URI. She does have elevated liver enzymes, so now we are trying to determine if she has a shunt or got into a toxin as an outside dog. A tech is going to foster her and she cannot travel until 3 dhpp (she has none at this time).
Her vet in Texas says “ Blue is very sweet and loves to meet new people and animals. She is not great with cats as she tries to play too rough with them, but enjoys playing with both large and small dogs. She has not been around any children. House training and crate training are a work in progress but going well so far with occasional accidents in the house. She is fairly high energy but is also happy to curl up and be a lap dog for a brief time. She had an intermittent left hind limb limp recently and on brief evaluation by one of out surgeons there was some concern for hip dysplasia. She has a history of an acute liver insult (unsure of the cause) that was at one point suspected to be due to a liver shunt- this was ruled out and she has recovered well. She is mostly deaf, but will react to some loud noises. All training is being done with hand signals currently. “ She should be coming to the Virginia area in May.
