Felicie Was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas.  She arrived to her Virginia foster on February 21st.

Hello everyone! My name is Felicie! You may recognize my name from the hit movie "Leap!". My furless fo-sister gave me the name, and like Felicie, I am also an orphan! I was abandoned in Texas and I wasn't sure I'd be able to follow my dream - to live with and love on a family to call my very own. Much like Felicie, I was offered a chance to chase my dream (and tail!), but it was in the form of Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue, not by running away and living in Paris.

With that being said, let me introduce myself! I'm a young, petite lady who likes to be near the people I live with. I enjoy the medium human as much as the tiny one (8 and 2 y/o). I was happy to finally meet another GSD like myself, but he seemed pretty grumpy and unwilling to play, so with a shrug I went off to follow the tall one in charge around while he made dinner. I enjoy going for walks, sometimes a little too much, but I stop pulling when corrected. I'm still all over the place, but I don't want to wander too far. I look to my furry housemate for direction but am hit or miss with other dogs, so I think I'd enjoy a brother or a sister in my new home as long as we have slow and respectful introductions. I sleep in my crate all night with only a little complaining in the beginning, although I'd love to sleep in my fo-mom's bedroom. I need to put on some more weight, but I'm on my way to a healthy appearance. I also can leap babygates with the greatest of ease, so if I am off leash in a fenced yard, that fence should be at least 6 feet. I like chasing cats, so my fo-mom seems to think I would also chase squirrels.

I like men as well as women, but it takes me a bit longer to warm up to men, and I warm up faster with a woman around. I startle easily with loud noises from adults, but don't seem to mind the tiny human's temper tantrums. I cower when approached by someone larger than me, so slow and respectful approaches are necessary to help me trust you. I have started sleeping in the comfy spots in the house after watching the resident dog find the best places. I'm good with stairs, but get nervous if it's dark. I will bark if another dog gets too close while I'm eating, but appear to be unbothered by the hairless humans wandering around me. I am food motivated and will sit for treats, but am not yet comfortable laying down for one. I do have separation anxiety, and would do best in a home with someone who's able to be with me and build that mutual trust.   I can be nervous around new people and look to my fo-mom and fo-dad for reassurance, especially in large groups like a park or a dog park. For this reason, I would do best in a home with a fence to get my energy out until I feel more confident around new people, places, and things.

My spay is scheduled for March 18th, so I won't be able to go to my forever home until then. In the meantime, I'd love to meet you! Please have your caseworker reach out if interested!
