Leah has been returned to the rescue due to a bite.  She is reserved and fearful around new people and was put in situation in which she felt very uncomfortable and unfortunately bit a houseguest.

As a pet/foster, Leah has been perfect in every way.  As with most German Shepherds (to quote Cesar Milan), she needs "rules, boundaries, and limitations".  She is not a bad dog, in fact she is very loving and sweet to those she knows.  She's fine with other dogs and even cats.  She just needs an assertive owner, and an owner that will not put her in a situation where she feels uncomfortable and will lash out.  For this reason, she will not be placed in a home with children - although she is GREAT with kids, she feels like she needs to protect them, like any good shepherd will do.

We are seeking a quiet home, adults only, with or without other dogs and cats.  She's not a "dog park" dog, or a dog that would enjoy outings to new places and people.  She's a homebody.  She bonds quickly and wholly to her family.  It will take her a few days to trust her new family, but I have NEVER felt as though I am in any sort of danger or at risk of being bitten, quite the opposite actually.

If interested, please contact your caseworker.  Her foster is happy to share more insight with approved adopters.
