You just can’t help it when you are born this gorgeous, and Zoe knows it.  Our lovely Miss Zoe is a throwback to the silver screen beauties of the earlier cinema days.  A whole lot of beauty, a good bit of sass, and just enough mischief to make it all worthwhile.

This sweet girl is just 2 years old and already had to make it through a pile of issues.  Since she wasn’t spayed, she became a mother early, got a persistent UTI, and was diagnosed with a slight case of mange.  She and her babies then contracted Distemper.  By the time SSR got them, it was too late for the babies, but Miss Zoe fought long and hard to overcome this preventable illness.  Just as soon as she came though the Distemper, Zoe was diagnosed with a TVT.  TVT is a type of cancer that is spread between dogs during breeding.  This sounds scary, but honestly it is very treatable and has a very high success rate.  She had every right to throw in the towel, but not our girl.  She continued her uphill battle and ditched the TVT like the champ she is!  Zoe has completed 8 weeks of chemotherapy and had tumor resection with good margins.  At her postop follow up appointment, we got amazing news that Zoe is now free and clear of her TVT.  Zoe's repeat heartworm testing was positive, so she has started slow-kill treatment for her heartworm disease. SSR will cover all costs associated with her heartworm treatment even after adoption.

Now that Zoe is back to health, we are looking for an amazing home to help her thrive.  Zoe loves people of all ages, and thinks running with kids in the back yard is especially fun!  To the question of other furry friends, we are currently listing Zoe as needs breed experience or an only fur-child.  She doesn’t necessarily dislike other dogs, but isn’t sure how to greet them, and then just goes right into herding mode.  (You would be shocked by how many other dogs don’t like this game!).  Zoe has been working very hard with her foMom to learn how to properly interact with other dogs and does well with the training tools that have been introduced to her.  She could live with a dog savvy cat, but again, queue the herding/chasing, and the cats aren’t happy campers either.

Zoe’s best day?  That would be any day that starts and ends by hanging with the humans.  Roll out of bed in the morning, a little doggie yoga, some outdoor time, breakfast, then it is off to the car.  Zoe is the best shotgun rider for errands, drive thru runs, pizza pick up, swinging by the bank (they still have treats right?), and she will join right in and agree that yes, all those other people are bad drivers (Zoe is good like that!), then it is back home for an afternoon nap.  She will gladly supervise yard work, housework, and all that pesky dinner prep.   Want to do some weekend hiking or family adventures?  Zoe is all in and up for whatever family fun there is to be had!

Zoe has already mastered some of the doggie guidelines.  She does beautifully in her crate and has learned Sit, Down, and Come.  Her adoptive family taking her to dog obedience class will be the final step in making Zoe a very well rounded girl.  Some of Zoe’s other highlights?  She gives the best hugs, doggie kisses, and snuggles.  For family entertainment, Zoe loves to throw her toys in the air to catch them.  Better that any show you could pay to see!

Are you looking to open your home to a girl with this much love and personality!  Look no further than our amazing Zoe!  She is being fostered in Waterford, VA, and looks forward to meeting you soon!

Nuts and Bolts: 2 year old female, 65lbs, heartworm positive, great with kids, not good with most dogs or cats but is making HUGE improvements, fun personality, happy girl!
