Koa is a typical shepherd and all boy! This sweet lovebug is 5 years and is very mellow for a Shepherd. Koa loves people, he loves meal time and especially loves walks. Koa has made himself right at home and settled in with his 2 foster sisters really well. Koa came up from Texas in January and we have learned so much about him. First – he loves to be with his people. He thinks our kids are great ( Twins 12 years olds) and hangs right there with them if they are chilling on the couch. He loves to take walks with the family, he only barks when he sees someone at the door and settles down very well during the day while I am working from home. The term Velcro Shepherd was made for this guy! Wherever you are, he is. He will not go into the kennel, if you get him inside he will go bonkers. We are not using the kennel and all has been well inside. I do not recommend a kennel for Koa. He seems to take ques from out other dogs and has done well for 3-6 hours alone with the other dogs free in the house so far. He has done very well with our female Shepherds. We think Koa would not do well alone so either a human or other dogs would be preferable. Koa is fostered with other dogs, and does really well with them. Right now he is still learning how to play and just be a dog. Koa does have more of a dominate personality with other dogs but does great with more submissive dogs. Koa has not yet been cat tested but does like to chase the squirrels in the yard. That doesn’t necessarily mean he will chase cats, but it is possible. Koa spends his day wandering the house from person to person to get pets and his nights asleep in the hallway to watch over everyone. He throws in a few nightly house patrols to make sure all is well. Koa is OK in the car, loves to call shotgun and watch the world pass by through the passenger window. His fosters have taught him to Sit, but as with all our dogs, we recommend basic obedience training to really make this guy shine. Koa is just wrapping up heartworm treatment now and should be heartworm free soon. Are you looking for an amazing boy who is ready to chill, walk with his people, and then snuggle?
