Jake is a sweet, handsome guy ready to slide right into his retirement living. He had done all the young pup antics and made it through middle age. He is now ready for his rocking chair that sits right next to his person so you can rock the day away in peaceful bliss. Jake is an 8 year old guy and is all about his people! Wherever you are, he is following right along. He had no trouble living with other dogs, he just thinks the humans are way more interesting. He does well with children, dogs and cats The perfect day for Jake would be accompanying his human on errands, doing some puttering in the yard, a walk here or there, and a few naps thrown in between. Jake does not require much in the way of exercise but will happily play ball or run around the yard in small breaks throughout the day. He is also expert level “Supervisor” when it comes to yard work. He can lay down in a yard like no one’s business! Jake has some food allergies and is on a special diet, and steroids. The best way to handle this? Cheese. Yep, you put cheese in anything and Jake will eat it, no questions asked. This guy does try to be as low maintenance as possible. He is good like that, and one of the dozens of reasons we all adore him! **** This summer we've learned that Jake does not like storms and becomes inconsolable (this is not an understatement). he will pace and bark until it passes. For this reason, I'd recommend you have a basement/garage for him until the storm passes. As with all our dog’s we do recommend a basic obedience class. Jake does have a head start and knows Sit, Wait, and Lay. He is not a fan a crates, but sleeps beautifully through the night without one. Jake is heartworm positive, but Shenandoah Rescue will pay for treatment. Are you ready for a sweet, smart, handsome senior? Nut and Bolts: 8 years old, 57 lbs, will not be neutered due to age, good with kids, good with dogs, and cats.
