Avery is one of our diamonds-in-the-rough. Not just the basic kind, but more of the unique-situation kind. Avery is an amazing girl, beautiful, and this girl loves her stuffed unicorn. She thinks other dogs are the best thing ever invented and will even hang with the cats too! The issue? She is not as fond of people. Let’s talk about that. Avery didn’t have a great life before SSR, so she doesn’t understand that people are just as cool as the dogs and cats. She is not aggressive in anyway but would be happy to sidestep the people on the way to get to her doggie friends. She has started making some progress with her foster mom and will even come lay near her for some Netflix Marathons and Saturday lounging. Avery greets her Foster Mom at the door each day and says a quick hello, and then is off again with the dogs. Avery has made her crate her own personal AirB&B. She prefers to eat in her crate and loves lounging after a good yard run in her comfy bed. (Which interestingly enough, is in her crate!) Avery’s crate is her safe space and she is never hard to find! Avery has some basic obedience skills. She knows crate (see above!), sit, and knows the command to find her stuffed unicorn. She is still fairly scared of a leash, so a home with a fence and a yard for her to run would be best. Avery has no allergies, medical issues, or food aggression. So where exactly would be a great place for Avery? I am glad you asked! Avery would really bloom in a quiet home with doggie friends and patient humans. The doggie friends give her confidence while she learns how cool the humans can be. Avery is just one year old, and really has an amazing life ahead of her with the right family. While Avery is certainly a unique dog, we know that there is someone out there would be perfect for this sweet girl. Avery is being fostered in Waterford, VA and would love to meet you!
