Wally is an incredibly handsome, 2 year old (best guess) German Shepherd.  He's very much your classic GSD: incredibly smart, quick learner, ball drive, and food motivated. He's been very sweet with me and my husband. He often comes to me for affection and pets. He does not like being alone so we’re working on crate training. He is already neutered and is heartworm positive. He is currently on doxycycline for the beginning steps of heartworm treatment. The rest of heartworm treatment will be paid for by SSR and will be completed after he is adopted and in his forever home.

Wally came from a high kill shelter where he was on the list to be euthanized. We do not know his background prior to the shelter and SSR. After he was pulled by SSR, we boarded him at Texas Vet Hospital for quarantine before he was transported up to Virginia. Before he arrived, we were warned that he is aggressive towards other dogs. Upon arrival, we found that his paperwork again listed him as dog aggressive but also as kennel aggressive and listed "caution" all over his medical paperwork.  Knowing that Wally had been in a kill shelter and then taken straight to a vet for boarding, that could potentially be the cause or stressor leading to his behavior so his foster plan to completely retest Wally with the resident dog but only after he's completely settled in and finished with his decompression period. We will also be testing with cats and kids soon but are taking it slow. Check back soon for an update on how Wally is doing!
