Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Danish is a beautiful lady who will melt your heart with her bushy tail wags and constant nuzzling for pets. Although a little skittish on first meeting new people and dogs, once she's established trust she is all affection. Danish is still adjusting to life inside and is working on perfecting her potty training so will require some patience and additional training as she learns. She is crate trained and is incredibly well behaved in her crate for down time and through the night. Danish should ideally go to a home where she does not need to be crated for more than a few hours a day - she has energy to burn and loves to be out and about with people. Danish tested incredibly well with the cat in Texas, but due to her alleged history of killing livestock, might proceed with a bit of caution. She does appear to be a bit reactive to other dogs on leashes who are pulling towards her or barking at all and will require slow and patient introductions to other dogs. As you can see from the video, she has already established trust with our resident dog and is getting more and more comfortable and playful with him by the day. She definitely likes to be dominant so would do well with lower energy dogs who are willing to be submissive. When she's wound up, she really loves to play! With the right match, I think Danish could thrive in a home with another dog. This girl is a looker with a great personality who just needs someone with the patience and experience to help her ease into her new comfortable indoor lifestyle. Danish has had at least one litter of puppies in her past but is now spayed. She will need heartworm treatment upon adoption which will require lots of rest but is very manageable. Danish was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Texas for allegedly killing livestock.
