Hound / Mixed : : Male : : Young : : Medium
Hercules Mulligan was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He arrived to his foster in Virginia on August 30th. Check back soon for more updates. Hercules Mulligan is a teeny tiny 12 week old, unaltered male. He is part lab, part houndie (oh yes, his crate howl is super houndie) and lots of sweetness mixed in. My 3 crazy dogs are frightening for him though he has warmed up to our smallest (a beagle-hound mix). Hercules has one blue eye and one very light green eye. He is working on the potty training and seems to be picking up the peeing outside pretty quickly but not the pooping outside just yet. Maybe because our crazy dogs are too much for him, he runs to his crate (and he gets rewarded every time he goes in) so he loves his crate very much! He has been doing really well in there during the evening sleep time. He does not like his crate if he has to be in there just because - like if we are cooking in the kitchen or are not in the room. He is much better in the crate if he can see us. Otherwise, be ready for the hound howling! We have not had him long but the things we do know: he loves all treats and foods. He is really skinny so he needs to gain a little bit of weight. He loves his people. He wants to be with people more than anything. And he loves being cuddled. He has been tethered to me during my office work at home. He is happy with some toys, a chew toy and a little puppy bed where he just passes out. He has some spunk and definitely has some courage/ street manners. He growled at our biggest male GSD bc our GSD got close to Hercules' food bowl. Our GSD was also really curious about him and smelling Hercules everywhere and Hercules growled and did a little tiny snap at him. Our dog ran for the hills as he is the epitome of the cowardly lion. A dominant resident dog will not be a good fit. Overall, Hercules Mulligan seems to be a medium energy lab-hound puppy that needs some confidence building, patience teaching him about the world, and a tolerance for the hound howling.
