Winter- 2 years old, Medium energy level, House trained, Crate trained, medium shedder (which is super low for a husky!) Regular brushing will keep that hairdo looking good. Yard REQUIRED, Fence preferred (invisible fencing will NOT work for a husky) Has the husky "woooo" occasionally and barking is extremely rare and only a “woof” or two. Owner experience – moderate. Not destructive - NOPE, not a bit. She is awesome. She has really responded to training. I can give you tons of examples (counter surfing, jumping up when food is prepared, etc. that we have successfully overcome together) She’s a smart cookie. She hasn't damaged anything at all, even when left out of crate overnight to wander the house. Food - give me a dollop of canned food on my dry food and we'll get along just fine. I'm a princess and I know it. Meeting new people - SUPER great! She loves to meet new friends. She will walk right up to you and see if you would like to enjoy her soft fur with nice long strokes down the back. She gives soft kisses. She might even hop on up to say hello. Winter is very people friendly. Is your couch the one for her? Even better if you need a sleeping buddy. She loves sleeping in bed with you. She doesn’t jump up and down, no noise making, and pretty much stays in the same spot all night. If you are looking for a best bud, she's your gal. She's a snuggle buddy, roommate, and walking buddy all rolled into one beautiful dog! She loves stuffed animals and does not damage them at all (other than a load of slobbery kisses!) She is learning to chase a ball- just a small toss and she’ll retrieve it a time or two. She’s still learning to be a dog. Winter also loves to take walks, would be a great running partner and really enjoys car rides. She is a dream in the car!
Leash walking - she's doing really good. She doesn't pull much and is learning to heel and to sit when I stop. She loves exploring the world around her. Does not bark at people, kids or pets. Just likes to wander with her human. She likes to take time to smell the roses. Preferred home (not a requirement): Subdivision or rural area. She loves smelling the country air and listening to the sounds. She loves watching people, kids, cats, dogs, golf carts, birds, cows and pretty much anything else that walks by. Did I mention that she kissed the neighbor's cow? Yep! Super cute!
If you have a fence, that's a plus! She would love to spend time just exploring the yard, wandering around and smelling the smells. Exploring is really her favorite thing to do. Huskies cannot be off leash unless in a secured fenced area.
Winter is certain that her forever home is out there just waiting for her. Is it yours? Winter came from a partner rescue in Texas. She arrived to her foster in Virginia on August 23rd. She is the sweetest cuddle bug you could ask for. She will be your best buddy for life. She's happy just to hang out with her people.
Winter is heartworm positive – NO SYMPTOMS – Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue will pay for treatment even after adoption (take to a Shenandoah Shepherd rescue vet nearby and they will bill SSR)
Winter resources guards food from animals (not humans) - would need to be fed separately from other pets. Dog selective - bring your dog for a meet & greet! She prefers laid back low key dogs.
