Lizzy arrived to her foster home and her foster is still trying to figure her out.  She is currently very timid and scared.  She is either in her crate or on her bed all day unless she wants to eat.  Lizzy can do her business outside, but currently only because her foster is taking her out to relieve herself, so we can't say definitively that she is house trained.  Right now, play of any kind also scares her so it can't be determined if she's good with kids or not (she is presently in a home with three kids, ages 11 and up).  She really seems like she would be a sweet dog.  She is warming up more each day, albeit very, very slowly.  It will take some time for her to come completely out of her shell and be ready for meet & greets and potential adoption.

Lizzy was rescued from a partner rescue in Texas.  She arrived to her Virginia foster on August 15th.

Update 8/30 - Lizzy is slowly adjusting. She enjoys being around other dogs, puppy or older and the humans that come with them. Lizzy is still very timid and scared of all other humans. She likes walks most of the time and is learning how to walk on a leash. Normal sounds that we hear on a walk that frighten her include cars, kids playing, and lawnmowers. She does not seem bothered by dogs barking. We don't know yet if Lizzy is a swimmer, but she went to the lake yesterday and got straight in the water. She is still very much a flight risk and will cower immediately when scared. Lizzy spent the first week-and-a-half between her bed and her crate. She is now starting to explore our house a little. Stairs are not a problem.

Update 9/19 Lizzy is a very sweet dog. Even though she is still timid and scares easily she is not a barker. In the last month she has probably only barked three times. She definitely enjoys being around other dogs, but not ones that are aggressive or overly hyper. Lizzy takes right to the water when she can. We still haven't been able to let her off her leash, but she definitely enjoys it. Play is still very scary for Lizzy. Balls, sticks, anything one would throw still make her cower and hide. She is walking great on a leash, but does not like to have her harness and leash put on. Again, she cowers and tries to hide. Commands like sit, stay, and wait she is doing well with. Lizzy is a very smart and obediant dog, if she is not scared. House training has been easy. The only time she has an accident in the house is when she is scared.

Update 10/26 Lizzy loves the water. It is the one constant that does not scare her, too much. Being at the river is her happy place. She'll jump off the pier, go for a ride in the kayak, or just lay in the water. The rest of life still has the potential to scare her. Lizzy has come so far in the two months that she has been with us, but she still scares very easily. She is learning to tolerate toys, but has yet to really play with anything. Just sitting beside one and not running to hide is a step in the right direction. Lizzy has a very sweet and calm personality. She is not aggressive nor does she bark. She needs a loving family that will be patient and understanding of all her fears.
