According to Wikipedia, Nyx is the Greek Goddess of night and a figure of exceptional power and beauty. Our sweet momma Nyx fits the bill. She was surrendered into the shelter with a litter of young pups that she raised herself. The puppies were pulled by another rescue and we wanted to make sure that this sweet girl got the chance she deserved. She is so beautiful- long, lanky with the biggest, brownest eyes. And then she does a running somersault into the grass for a good roll. Who says a goddess can't enjoy the simpler things in life? Nyx is a velcro dog, very affectionate and demands your attention and pets. She has been great around all the dogs that she's met- young, older, male and female and her Texas foster says that she does not react to cats. She loves people and will gently go up asking for pets. She especially loves kids and she will gravitate to any kid including very young ones. We would recommend an older kids for the home since when she gets excited she will tug on your hand with her mouth. She has a low-moderate energy level and after a little play time in the yard, it's time for a cuddle and snooze at home. We would recommend a 4 foot fence for the yard. She has been a wonderful office dog and happy to snooze behind my chair while I type away. And beyond all those glowing traits, is the fact that she was born without a tongue. She has learned to adapt and thrive without it. She drinks and eats just fine, albeit a little more messy than a typical dog. We do keep a closer eye on her in the heat since she can't pant like other dogs. And we have strategically placed towels on the floor for some spilled water or drool clean up. Otherwise, unless it is pointed out, most people that meet Nyx do not realize that there is anything different with her. She is a special, special girl that deserves to be spoiled and worshiped like the goddess she is. And she is more than ready to return that love 100x back to you. She needs to be spayed and she is low HW positive (and treatment covered by SSR).
