7/5 Update: Age 8, 64 lbs working toward 85 lbs. Armer is settling in. He is a bit anxious when he is having leashed free time outside of the crate. He checks in every 10 minutes or so and whines to get attention. He's learning that whiners are ignored until they are quiet.
He has not gone potty in the house.
He is a bit too interested in my bird and my 8 lb chihuahua but is easily redirected.
I am told he was good at the vet as they are not allowing parents in the office.
He has heartworm, hoping to start treatment in August. He has bad skin that Vet says is not a mange but poor nutrition and stress. I tried to give him a bath and he was scared and wild. I had the Vet give him a bath Friday and he stinks to high heaven already. I am hopeful as we get him healthier he will smell better.
I am guessing he has some arthritis based on how he moves when he gets up.
He does not like having his collar or a loop leash over his head. He will try to run away to keep you from putting it on. If we try to lead him around holding his collar he panics and rears up like a pony. I believe he may have had a bad run in with the dog catcher.
He only knows No and Sit.
Armer joins us from South Carolina and is recovering from skin issues and is HW+. We don't know much about him yet, but we do know he was just fine with a cat until it ran and then he was just a little bit too interested. Most dogs seem fine, although he wasn't a fan of a female mastiff there at the shelter.
