Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Sally is a super sweet and timid girl who wants nothing but love and affection...and some tasty treats! She was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas, where she had been left by her owner. She sat waiting for over two months for someone to care about her. SSR rescued her, and she arrived to her Virginia foster on May 16th. She has settled in and relaxed in her foster home, and has made friends with the resident German Shepherd and cats. Sally is very mellow, and would do best in a quiet home where she can hang out with her people. Her favorite place is her crate or next to her family, where she feels safe. She is not a fan of toys, noise and lots of activity. Sally likes to go on walks and does well on leash, but otherwise is content to stay indoors. She would be happy as an only pet, but also gets along great with other dogs after a little initial fear growling. She is totally fine with her foster's household cats; however, she does have a prey drive and will chase unfamiliar cats and other critters outside. Sally has begun treatment for Heartworm disease. Once treatment is complete she will be spayed. Both treatments will be done at SSR's expense.
