Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Norman 1347 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Norman was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. His condition is he is severely anemic and in need of a transfusion. Included with his picture is one of him bathing in his dirty, bloody bath water. That was a product of ‘flea dirt’ which comes after a heavy flea infestation. “Flea dirt is the feces of fleas, which is a mix of blood meal and flea waste product”. Norman’s WBC is pretty high and they noticed bony structure changes on his pelvic xrays. We won’t know if it’s cancerous without a biopsy, but we need to stabilize him first. His tear production and eye pressure is low and overall (he's either blind or has cataracts), he’s a complicated case of neglect. We hope we can make his life more comfortable and bring him back to health. The shelter we rescued him from uses the heartstick method for euthanasia, so even if we cannot save his life, we saved him from an inhumane, painful death.
