Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Grimes is very well behaved as far as house trained, quiet in his crate, and well managed on a leash over 50% of the time. But when he gets excited, bored, or gets frustrated he easily resorts to jumping and mouthing. When he's fired up he definitely has the strength advantage on the leash. Because of how big he is, it can get hard to control him. He doesn't like to hold still much, so he has yet to be tested with his fosters dogs to confirm he is fine with like sized dogs like he was in Texas. H e definitely needs someone who knows what they are doing in training him and can be his leader. His foster is continuing to work with him on his behavior. He was a favorite of the volunteers at the shelter in Texas. They said "Grimes is a beautiful, energetic young boy that loves other dogs, although it's probably best he is kept with dogs that are closer in size to him since he's very active with his paws, and a smaller dog may not be too happy about that.
