Opal is a beautiful 3 year old shepherd looking for plenty of walks, car rides, and some great doggie snuggles! This sweet girl comes from the great state of Texas and has made so much progress in her time with SSR. Opal does well with other dogs, both large and small, after proper introductions. It does take her a little time to warm up to new dog friends, but isn’t that true of most of us meeting new people? She has not been cat tested but loves kids and thinks they are the most fun to run and play around with! Opal likes her daily walks, playing in the yard, and would love to join you in the car. She thinks car rides are amazing! (Who would not want this beauty hanging out their car window?) Opal has some obedience training and knows Sit, Paw, Lay, Bed, Come, Crate and walks well on a leash. As is typical with shepherds, she can get a little mouthy when playing, but a simple redirect can easily solve the problem. At 70lbs, she is a big girl and you will want to make sure you bring your best leadership skills forward. For this we recommend continuing obedience classes to really cement the bond between Opal and her new family. Opal loves hanging around her people but has not shown any issues when being left alone. She sleeps beautifully at night on her bed and roams the house during the day. At her monthly spa day (aka The Groomers) she is a perfectly behaved lady and even enjoys playing with some of the other dogs while waiting her turn for the tub. Opal would make an wonderful addition to any home and would love to speak with you soon! She is currently being fostered in Abingdon, VA.
