SSR Nami is looking for a family of her own! She is a small shepherd around 35 pounds at about a year old. Nami is very good in her crate and sleeps quietly through the night in it, but of course would love to be with her human more. She loves food and treats! She can be shy, but if you have treats she will gladly eat them for you. I have not seen resource guarding at all. She is a very very sweet dog that wants to be loved on and needs someone who will be patient with her to help build confidence with her new surroundings and people. When we're outside for a walk, she does well on the leash. If there are other dogs or people moving about, she likes to watch them from a distance. Last night, she saw a skunk across the street and watched it like a bird dog posing . She did the same watching two deers playing. Nami has been introduced to my big and small dogs, and my cat. She is friendly with them and likes to play with the big dog. My little dog is a jerk and demands his space, and Nami is good at respecting that! Nami would do well with having fur siblings. She would also do well as an only pet with an owner who will devote to her. Nami opens up around other dogs, but if you have no other pets, she will rely on her human for guidance and support who will help boost her confidence. Nami's quirks: she can be wary of doorways and stairs. Most likely because she's not used to them. With patience, she's learning how to tackle these new surroundings with the help of someone who will show her how. Sometimes she will put on the "brakes", either when going through doorways/stairs quickly or seeing something new on the walk outside. She loves toys, I've observed she will chew them so she may chew things if she's left bored. Nami lets me pet/handle her anywhere, including her paws and she's let me carry her. She's even rolled on her back to let me rub on her belly. Gaining her trust is so rewarding and important! I feel it's important to be patient with her, she gets scared of new places and being handled by new people if they are rushing her. Treats and toys go a long way with her!
