Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog. Rocky 1209 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Rocky is an approximately one year old neutered male. He is an owner surrender for the third time in his short life. His original owner had him for the better part of a year, his second owner returned him after one day and his third owner after a week. We don't know why the second owner returned him, although there wa a note in the file that he "digs". The third owner surrendered him to Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue because the resident kittens stopped using their litter boxes. Rocky wanted to play with them, but the size differences between them scared the cats. He's a typical one year old that needs to be taught some manners as he pulls on the leash and he tends to jump on people. He does know some commands, like sit and shake. He's currently working on down and bed. He isn't wild about being in a kennel, whining and trying to break out. He's lived most recently with a family of two adults, a teenager, two younger children and a service dog. There were no issues with anyone, except he saw the resident kittens as something to play with. He is fully housebroken. The shelter evaluation states he is happy and friendly. There were also no issues when he met the resident dog at his temporary foster in TX. He is very energetic and loves to play. He arrived to his foster in Virginia on February 21st.
