SEEKING CALM, SILENT TYPE My next home needs to be with someone with working dog experience and a confident, quiet energy, because it helps me to relax, and I respond so much better. I used to be very bad in the crate but I trust foster mom and don’t make a peep anymore. Before, I only knew SIT and, well, I wouldn’t do it if I wasn’t in the mood and you definitely had to have a treat! I’m pretty reliable and obedient with the SIT command now, plus I have learned WATCH, DOWN, BREAK, PLACE, and HEEL. Foster mom says I am the smartest boy ever and pretty easy to train for someone with experience but I will question your authority at first and will need an owner that will make me follow through with the command. In addition to my walks (about three miles a day), we have been meeting people all over town—PetSmart, HomeDepot, PetCo, the swim center, and the local coffee shop. Foster mom holds my leash and I have been really good with everyone I have met, even older kids, and some of my new friends have even gotten kisses. But she always warns them not to baby talk or pet me too roughly. I’m not a big barker but when I do, foster mom corrects me and I listen because I am becoming a good boy. Foster mom talks a lot to the people we meet, so when I get bored, I just lie down until she is ready to go. I like other dogs but maybe only one please. A home without children will be best as little children scare me and I resource guard. I did fabulously meeting my foster's cat although I did want to play with her like a dog. Most importantly, my forever human(s) will need to be committed to my training needs. Baylor does have a bite history that stems from resource guarding toys and treats. Due to this, Baylor will be working extensively on training and will need an owner willing to continue training. Baylor, formerly Hertz, is a Golden Retriever mix that found his way into a German Shepherd Rescue because he was in a high kill shelter in Texas.
