Aurora is a 2 year old spayed female German Shepherd who was a stray on the streets of Texas. A caring local took her in for a few weeks while searching for her family who never came. She’s made her way to Virginia in search of a new life full of love and warmth. Aurora is a very sweet loving girl. She loves pets, head scratches and belly rubs. She allows handling all over her body but gets nervous when you lift her back legs to wipe her paws. She had xrays of her rear legs and all was normal so she likely has just a sore knee. She does not get on the sofa or bed and likes to sleep on a dog bed. She does not shred blankets in her kennel. She is a total Velcro dog and likes to follow you around She is house broken, crate trained, knows basic commands such as sit, down, come and drop and rides like a lady in the car. Her leash manners could use some work but she only pulls a little. She likes people of all sizes. She is not a fan of cats and does not do like every dog she meets. She was fostered in Texas without any problems and is slowly warming up to the resident dogs.
Aurora is Heartworm positive and has already started on her pre medications for treatment. SSR will pay for her heartworm treatment at the rescues approved vets even after she is adopted.
